Twice in the last week, Old Trenton Road has flooded near Liedke Drive. As far as I know, this has never happened before the "Old Trenton Road Roadway Widening and Drainage Improvement" was completed. I remember some water running down along the curb near Liedke, but nothing even close to this, even during much worse rainstorms than we've had this past week. Also, the flooding that has occurred in the past near the Swim Club seems to be worse than before.

Thank you Middlesex County for another terrific engineering job! For you next project, perhaps you can improve the drainage to the point where the entire length of the roadway is underwater when it rains.

I agree when they work on a road they should improve or at least not make drainage worse, but I honestly have never heard this project referred to as the "Widening and Drainage Improvement" project until now. Hasn't it always been about just adding dedicated turn lanes?

While we're on the topic of unrealized opportunity, it is a shame when they were doing all that work and messing with the curbs anyway that they still didn't carry the sidewalk all the way through so people can safely walk to Main Street.

Ask the county to see the plans (also probably on file at Town Hall). The project's title is something like "Widening and Drainage Improvement".

The drainage referred to the intersection of Ancil Davison Rd. The sidewalk would have been on the town dime and given the finances and projects I am not sure we could have afforded it. I agree it would have been nice for the county to do the sidewalks.

If part of the project was "improving" drainage at the corner of Ancil Davison I would say they failed. It changed the flow of the flooding a bit but it didn't make it flood any less and they still had to blockage the road.

It's a flood plain so they could only do some fixing. It would be millions to redo the roadway to make it not flood. I don't want to spend that money from taxes.

I'm more concerned about the flooding at Liedke. This area has never flooded before the "improvements" were done. This can completely cut off access to Shadow Oaks.

Glad that you pointed this out. I was thinking the same.

A free boat for all Shadow Oaks residents will be nice during flooding for emergency purpose. Wink

And isn't there a large retension basin right next to Leidke Drive and Old Trenton Road? I think the Middlesex County engineers need to be called back to correct this.

Nah heck with them. They can walk through since so many kids walk down that darn road it needs to be 35.

I don't want any of my tax money spent on anything that doesn't directly effect me.
