Can I get a little love for the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Maybe Cranbury Pizza would like to make a donation...

Agreed. That type of "cutting edge" humor is shaving it a little too close for comfort.

It is not the place for the TC to permit the Menorah or Nativity scene to be displayed on township property. It has nothing to due with intollerance, but with who is displaying the actual artifacts. The town represents everyone in our town, which I am a Cranburian, a non-believer (yes, an atheist). I truly believe in separation of church and state. It's ok to have a lighted tree with the thoughts of santa, elves, reindeer, etc. displayed on township property. But, that is as far as I want to see it go. It is not the place of the TC to suggest which religion are preferred in our town.

Please realize, I don't mind at all that the churches display nativity scenes or neighbors with menorahs, nativity scenes, or other holiday displays. That is everyone's personal choice, and my choice is different.

I post, not to be preached to, but to have an equal voice.

Perhaps we should leave these decisions to those with skin in the game.

So you would prefer a 10 foot tall dreidel to a menorah?

Dear sirs, or madam.
I am an atheist and I wish my beliefs to be recognized next to the Xmas tree too.
I wish to put up a papier mache statue of Charles Darwin right next to the said tree.
I wish to be represented as well!!!

It's okay to put up a menorah next to the Christmas tree.
Just put it BEHIND the tree so that nobody can see it!

In the interest of full disclosure, I am an atheist.

I don't have a problem with holiday displays as long as it is donated. We have a tree. I don't complain. If we add a menorah because a resident wants it and wishes to donate it, I am fine with that. The same with every religion so far mentioned on this board and a few not mentioned.

In my mind, if you have a tree you have opened the door. I don't think it would be fair to not allow others to make similar donations.

As for the atheist who wants a statue of Darwin. You worship Darwin? I agree with Darwin, I certainly don't worship him any more than I worship the standard model of Physics(which is currently experiencing a lot of problems).

Holiday displays don't bother me, but it does seem you have to let anyone who wants to donate a display, donate away.

Yes it was approved and will be funded by the township. They are ordering a menorah from Polly Pockets today that will be on display by the weekend.
