So far, in this Battle of the Sirens in this Forum over the past year, Mr Moody (or is it Moddy?) has anonymously been called (or told to):-
1) A NIMBYite.
2) One with a Personality Trait
3) Arrogant
4) Selfish
5) Apalling (spelling?)
6) A Complainer
7) Futile
"A Little Off"
9) Incendiary
10) Angry
11) A Bully
12) Insulting
13) Self- Obsessed
14) Passionate
15) Move to East Susquatchua Vermont
16) Move to Florida
17) Confused
1 Misleading
19) Grin and Bear it
20) Insulting
21) Keep his "Piss Ant" donation and shut the #1 up.
Isn't it time to put aside personal abuse and have a mature discussion on this topic?
Incidentally, if the "No Sirens" rule works at night, why not by day? |

You forgot narcissist.
In fairness there have been plenty of polite, reasonable posts that address him respectfully and don't call him names. And he repays them by ignoring anything he doesn't have an answer to, making up things occasionally and continuing to use over-the-top language. So I take your point about not reducing the responses to Mr. Moody's level but he's demonstrated he doesn't have any real interest in respectful discourse. Not an excuse, but a reality.
As for the idea of "having a mature discussion" that ship has sailed. People have made reasonable points here and elsewhere. The useful dialogue is there for anyone who cares to review and filter through the more frustrated replies. What more is there to say? |

It has been discussed and discussed. The people and the Commitee have spoken. The siren(s) stay. Mr. Moody can continue to campaign, move, or live with it. If he chooses to continue to campaign he is only given credibility if people continue to respond, even it is to argue with him. |

Every time there is a fire alarm, the faithful volunteers of Cranbury drop what they're doing and answer the call. Many, if not most, of the calls they receive are false alarms at the warehouses. IMO- The "inconvenience" to everyday residents pales in comparison to the real problem- the impact of false alarms on our volunteer firefighters.
I know the committee has been working to address this over the years by increasing fines and communicating with the warehouse owners. I hope the TC continues to make progress on this issue before we burn out those who are willing to volunteer. |

Self Obsessed and Insulting too.
But all Mr Moody is asking for is the TC to consider a 6 month trial period where the Sirens are silenced by day - in addition to being silenced at night - a system which seems to be working well.
Mr Moody has openly given out his name and cell number and invited those who don't agree with him to discuss the matter over a cup of coffee at Teddy's. So far, nobody abusing him has stated their name - nor has anyone appeared to have taken up his offer of a friendly chat. |

I have no idea if anyone has offered to speak with Mr. Moody. However, I do know three TC members met with him as have members of the department and squad. So Mr. Moody is not being ignored by those in power.
My view is based on how difficult it was to modify the siren times from hearing Mr. Taylor speak at TC meetings that a 6 month period is not easy. Further let's say it happens and a call is missed will someone who is late getting care or has a home damaged accept that they were part of a test? If they do 6 months and the siren comes back does anyone really feel that Mr.Moody will be okay? The volunteers changed the siren time to try and accommodate Mr. Moody's complaints and others. Now that good deed of shutting the sirens off after 9 is used against them.
I say let those who have the knowledge and responsibility for our safety decide. |

Here's a typical line from one of Mr. Moody's previous editorials which may have been one of the longest ones every published in the Press.
"Apart from the tacky neon “open” sign, surrounded by twinkling blue stars, at the ancient Cranbury Inn (where the owner is also allowed to park his vulgar bright yellow “Va Bene” Corvette in pole position in full view of passersby) and the tired looking psychedelic bench outside Charmed by Claire, the township has wisely kept any potential visual pollution from taking over." |

Thats kinda the reason why they put sirens ON the emergency vehicles! |

The Volunteer's vehicles rushing to the squad and fire house to respond don't have sirens! Of course we could ask the to drive and constantly honk their horns. I'm sure people would live to hear cars honking. |

Why not give the Volunteers flashing lights to put on the roof of their cars when they are called out to warn everyone that they are coming? |

Many have blue lights, but people are not always looking behind them. As a Main St resident I have seen cars ignore and be oblivious to these volunteers. The point remains none of us are qualified to say no. If those with experience say yes we need it that should suffice. |

Then make the lights flashing bright yellow or orange so that drivers can see them better in their rear view mirrors. Blue is not a distinctive color - especially in daytime. |

This is why you have to let the professionsls make decisions. Blue is the only option legally.
Just let those who know the laws and have the information make the decisions. |

I was interested in moving to this town until a few friends of mine told me to read this forum, and they were 100% correct when they told me that there were too many liberals in this town that lack common sense. Any town where the residents get upset over police, fire, and ambulance sirens to the point where they want to silence them is way too far to the left for me and my family to purchase a home there! As a resident of any town, I most certainly would want the EMERGENCY SERVICE responders to make as much noise as possible so any children would have ample warning to get out of the way, and also any elderly who may be behind on the audio scale! My father always said, the liberals will legislate and tax themselves out of their own homes if you give them enough room to do so!
PS: You can keep the excess supply of homes all to yourselves! |
