Has Cranbury jumped the shark? It seemed after all the complaining the Republicans did along with some of the Democrats last year when Susan put up signs that we may have stopped them from being used in Cranbury. Now driving down Main St. I see the Inn and a home with signs for a primary. Driving home in Shadow Oaks I saw another sign.
Are we now putting up local signs for primaries? I don't even see signs for major candidates. I always enjoyed Cranbury politics because politics did not exist here. A few years ago I saw ads start in the paper, now we have ads and signs.
Yes, I may be an old codger, but I'm not an old resident here. I just moved here 6 years ago because this was a small old fashioned town. |

The signs were started last year by Susan J. Goetz and her friends when she ran for the town council and won. Blame her for using the signs and winning.
http://cranburytownship.org/twp_committee.html
We are responsible for providing signs to those who want to display them in their yards. The signs are only in the yards of people who have specifically offered their locations and who express a support of her candidacy. They will never be placed on public land anywhere throughout the Township. By agreement with the hosts, they were not posted before Sunday, October 30th and will all be removed within 24 hours of the polls closing.
In regards to their environmental impact, the signs are made of #5 corrugated plastic which we confirmed prior to ordering will be accepted by Whole Foods in Princeton for recycling.
The signs were designed by Susan’s son, Chris, who is a Cranbury resident, a Cranbury School parent, and an IT guy in his day job. Chris also manages Susan’s website, http://www.susangoetz.com/, where your (signed) comments on this and other issues are welcome.

Allow me to translate: I am new to town and a tea party member. I am still bitter that my candidate lost. I am trying to spin this as best I can. Sweet jesus let us move on. |

Seems to me that signs is as much complaining that Tom and Cynthia have signs as Susan.
I read the post as disappointment that both parties are posting signs and that now Republicans are doing it for a primary. |

Let me try again. You lost last year. I am really sorry, but nobody likes a whiner. Try really hard to get your candidate elected next year.
By the way, I have lived here since 1978.

The only sensible reply in the sea of anger here. No one else really pays attention to what they read here, only skims long enough to formulate their standard partisan response to any issue. |

Oh, signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Blocking up the scenery, breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
Why we have campaign signs in town from 2011

No matter how you try to spin it, putting up signs nearly 6 months before the election is tacky and reflects poorly on the candidates who have chosen this tactic. To me, it shows that this year's republican candidates are hopelessly out of touch with Cranbury. |

Be that as it may, it worked well for the Democratic candidate last year... |

Nothing but finger pointing from the camp of the upstart republican candidates. No accountability. That is not a good "sign"... |

Except I'm not a Republican. I just think it's silly to try and say the signs were okay for a Democrat and now to claim they are wrong for Republicans, or to suggest the signs are out of touch with voters when the signs proved very effective last year when it was for the other party. And there were similar posts complaining about them last year too, just do a search to see. But based on the election results it seems those complaining about the signs were the ones out of touch with voters. |

Honestly, do you think the signs make any difference one way or another. This is just one side thumbing there nose at the other. Who cares? Move on. |

Actually, even though I don't like the signs, I think they may be necessary for the Republican candidates this year.
Dave and Jay spent years volunteering and serving Cranbury before they ran for TC. Tom and Cindy haven't done anything to serve the community, so they need to do everything they can to build name recognition, even if it is in bad taste. |
