My family and I may be relocating to the Cranbury/Princeton area. We have two children (10 & 12) who are very social and into many different sports. We would appreciate any information as to which towns/communities we should look at. Our first priority is finding the best school district with a balance of strong academics and athletics. We are also looking for a family-friendly neighborhood where the kids can just go outside and play with other neighborhood kids, and the parents can also get together. Any info. or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

I think you have found the right town here. Cranbury is a small town with a very good school [K-8]; the high school students go to the excellent Princetion High School. The home prices are not too bad when factoring in the low property tax. |

Are you familiar with this area at all? Cranbury is awesome but the inventory (in real estate) is low. If you don't see anything you like you may need to wait for a long while. You may also want to look into West Windsor/Plainsboro. Great school, lots of houses on the market and many nice developments. You will have more choices compare to Cranbury. You can check NJ high schools ranking on http://www.njmonthly.com
The West Windsor - Plainsboro forum: http://www.wwptoday.com
Good Luck!! |

There is a Wiki page about Cranbury:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranbury_Township,_New_Jersey
From the "Education" section:
"Children in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade attend the Cranbury School, which as of 2006 has an enrollment of 592 students. For grades 9 to 12, Cranbury students attend Princeton High School, as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Princeton Regional Schools which also gives Cranbury one non-voting seat on the Princeton Regional Schools Board of Education."

Montgomery has great schools, but HIGH taxes and VERY expensive homes. Princeton is nice, but ditto with homes & taxes.
I guess if you want good schools, you MUST pay for them somehow. |
