There is a grant for the downtown for 250k or so which is from the state. Benefits also increase each year. Did you go to a TCeeting at budget time? Or is this post associated with the upcoming primary and we'll hear nonsense again from June-November again this year.

I don't think the opposition or challenging those responsible for raising our taxes is a pre-election stunt for attention. I think it is a real issue.

First of all it was said no tax increase. Good short term feel good. But! Spending increased by 10 percent by a million bucks.

That spending does not stop next year. It becomes the new spending norm for the next year. Someone else gets holding the blame for the subsequent tax increase to keep up with the spedning.

Of course the good people employed by the township deserve reasonable increases in pay, benefits etc.

Unfortunately I have not had an increase in pay in 3 years. I have had to pay more for my benefits substantially over the last few years through my contribution required by my employer.

So bottom line, I make less now, and pay more to live here.

I love this town, but it cannot continue to grow its spending at a 10 percent rate, when the tax base is not increasing.

My opinion, we should all question, and help with suggestions to help our elected officials and administrators.

I believe they all are doing a really good job, but its a huge responsibility, I'd like to find a way to help them. Look at the budget objectively. Like Win Cody did, how found hundreds of thousands of dollars we could save and trim, without siginificant loss of services.

There is a problem with this statement. How does the tax rate remain flat at a time when property taxes are also flat and then you say there is a 10% increase. If the budget portion paid by tax revenue increases by 10% then tax revenue would need to cover it. Plus, the state has a 2% cap by law.

My guess without being at the budget meeting and I doubt the poster above was either is that the increase comes from grants which have to be shown as expenses.

It seems this is political rhetoric yet again raising it's head like last year. If people are truly concerned I encourage you to go to a TC meeting or town hall and ask to go through the numbers.

Don't take anyone's interpretation including mine as fact. Since I believe the only ones at the budget meetings were TC members and staff they are likely the only ones with true answers.

I don't get it. What spin? If the town tax rate goes up it's spin. If not it's the truth.
