Will our school board and township committee follow and make changes we need to protect our school?

By The Associated Press
President Barack Obama is launching an administration-wide effort to curb gun violence, underscoring the growing political consensus over tightening gun restrictions following the horrific elementary school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.
Obama is tasking Vice President Joe Biden, a longtime gun control advocate, with spearheading the effort.
In remarks from the White House on Wednesday, Obama will outline a process for pursuing policy changes following the school shooting, though he is not expected to call for specific measures.
The president has vowed to use "whatever power this office holds" to safeguard the nation's children after Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.
Twenty children and six adults were killed at the school by a gunman carrying an arsenal of ammunition and a high-powered, military-style rifle. |

What local changes do you feel are needed? I'd urge any specific recommendations to be shared with the appropriate people - school admins, board of ed, etc. |

I don't know what can be done other than turning the school into a prison. If a crazy person wants to get in they just have to do what the gunman did in CT, shoot through the glass. Put bars on the windows, stockade fence around the perimeter, armed guards. Obviosly that is extreme and can't be done. I don't know what else can be done to make the school more secure. |

Maybe a well trained armed security guard in the lobby? Perhaps a retired law enforcerment officer? |

Only an idoit would think gun control will make a difference. What a waste of time, typical of democrats. It's very sad the dems use this as an excuse to push through a previous agenda. |

One reason you don't see road side bombs, and more WMD type things in the US as that we do not allow many of the components and we carefully regulate things like explosives.
If we had tighter gun control, less availability of assault weapons it stands to reason there would be less incidents of violence with these weapons.
In China, there is virutally no violence with weapons (handguns, etc)
Well they are outlawed for one thing.
But then again who wants to live in a governement like China. |

It's good to know not just anyone can walk in a gun store and walk out with a gun. People do weird things when mad and at least they have time to cool off. |
