CRANBURY -- Police today identified the 60-year-old East Windsor man who was found dead Saturday after his pickup truck crashed into the Millstone River and became submerged.

The body of Anthony W. Lugg was recovered from the black 2009 Ford Ranger at 1:17 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

A passing motorist saw the roof of the pickup truck in the river at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and reported it to police.

The crash occurred sometime between the late hours of Wednesday and when the car was found, police said. Lugg was the lone occupant of the pickup and was driving southbound on John White Road at the Millstone River Bridge, which borders East Windsor, police said.

The pickup left the roadway, struck the bridge embankment and tumbled into the river, police said.

Cranbury Township Police Department, Cranbury Township Fire Department, East Windsor Township Fire Department, West Windsor Fire Department and Rescue, and Hightstown Fire Department all responded to the scene.

The crash and cause of death is under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Giuseppe DeChiara or Detective Sergeant Ryan Dworzanski of the Cranbury Township Police Department at (609) 395-0031.
