| For the past thirty plus years Petty Road has been flooding at the bridge to Plainsboro. This is not only an inconvenience but a Safety Concern. The repaving about twenty years ago was supposed to address those concerns but as of this date has failed. When is the township committee going to address the problems with that road and the improper drainage?Does it take a serious accident due to the deteriorated road conditions or the loss of life due to the inability to access the homes on that road to get the committee's attention?Its about time the committeee looks past Main Street and takes some action for those taxpayers. |

| I thought this was discussed 2 years ago and the cost was in the millions to repair. I could be wrong. |

The repair was made but no improvement to allow greater flow to the bridge. Likely more cost to raise the bridge and approach.
Much more expensive improvement would have been needed.
So we settle for an very expensive bandaid instead of the proper solution and permanent fix which would have cost more.
I am a civil/structural engineer, and understand that bridge meets minimum requirements for the area.
But hey it wasn't township money, it came from disaster relief, so who care right? And its Petty Road, from what I understand the folks that pay by percentage higher taxes than the rest of the town, have the worst road surface then the rest of the town... But who really cares. |

I pay over 3-times the average property taxes for Cranbury and things I'd like the Township to do in my area, so if that's the basis for prioritizing projects please get in line. |

There are a few things it want to comment on.
1) I have no idea what the fix is, was or who paid. I'll assume you're correct and the bridge was repaired to meet minimum standards and was paid for by disaster relief. By your own admission raising the bridge, approach, etc... Would cost much more. Is it possible the town did not have the funds? The Liberty way bridge would be a hugely impactful project increase rateables, ease congestion, etc.., but the cost is prohibitive.
2) you personally may pay more in taxes. However , that is a poor argument as I would guess the collective taxes for Petty Rd do not approach the collective taxes for Shadow Oaks, Wynnwood, cranbury Green, the warehouse districts, etc... Going down the path of repairs based on tax value is dangerous. |

| Was t the road repaired with Fema funds and aren't you only allowed to repair the road back to exactly like it was before the disaster? You can't upgrade the project with Fema funds. |

The same poster complained about something on the sidewalks as well.
Please don't consider this all Petty Rd people. Yes, the bridge needs to be fixed, yes the road could be as well. However, it does cost money which last I heard was equal to or greater than our share of the dam work going on. People understand the cost pressures.
If we want to complain about taxes we can't then ask for major expenses to be incurred. |
