This is a wonderful event and so happy to see Cranbury involved. I hope the following:
1) the TC shows up to support the athletes and welcome them to town.
2) the residents who are around come and welcome the athletes showing our support
3) it appears the athletes will walk from town hall to 57 S Main st. Wouldn't it be great if we could line the road with supporters?
In the day where we have many spoiled multimillion dollar athletes and even many of our Olympic athletes are getting million dollar endorsements the special Olympic athletes do this for the pride, joy, confidence and self development. To me these are people our children should be inspired by and see as true athletes. Each one and their family should be proud. |

As per an earlier post, Cranbury is delighted and thankful for the opportunity to host the athletes of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games – New Jersey this Friday morning at 10:47am at town hall.
The Township Committee is extremely proud of these athletes who (in my opinion) represent the highest standards for sportsmanship, hard work and rewarding effort.
Last night, on behalf of our community the TC declared via proclamation that Friday, June 13 would be known in Cranbury as 2014 Special Olympics Day- USA Games New Jersey.
I hope when these athletes along with their friends and family visit our town on Friday that they will be greeted and cheered on by as many of our residents as possible. Cranbury is a warm and welcoming community and I can think of no better way to truly demonstrate our community values than to support these athletes and their families on Friday.

On behalf of the Township Committee, I want to thank our Police officers, Town Hall Staff, our board volunteers, fellow TC member Dan Mulligan and especially officer Matt Schneider and Vice Principal Michele Waldron. Michele and Matt were the individuals who organized Cranbury's participation.
For all parents of children in the upper grades who attended you should be aware that your kids were fantastic and welcoming to the Special Olympics athletes and volunteers. Their multiple standing ovations for the athletes meant a lot to them and to all those participating. You could see the support your children showed energizing the athletes and those who ran with them. You should be particularly proud of your children today.
One of the volunteers who came with the athletes told me that Cranbury was the largest and most welcoming crowd they have had yet.
On behalf of the whole TC, I want to again thank everyone who attended or helped organize the event.

It turned out to be a great event. Our township was represented by committee members, township employees, residents, school staff, and the 6-8th graders. All in attendance were energized, extremely welcoming, and very respectful. When pictures are received I will disperse them accordingly. THANK YOU all for the wonderful support, especially our upper graders who did a remarkable job!
