The Senior Center in the old school has about the same amount of space as the old firehouse. No senior is going to meet until this pandemic is over. Why not use that space?

If the senior center were used then when the pandemic is over and the seniors want to use their room they would have to argue with the library ( it will take a few years to build the library if it even gets built and then the seniors won't have a center).

Senior Center or Fire house in both cases you are evicting people that actually do use and need the facility. Find them a home that works don’t compound the issue by just pushing others out.

What I don’t understand. If the fire co is opposed and the library doesn’t want the old fire house then why is the TC so gung ho to remove the fire co? Why not just leave it be.

Just a thought---Why would anyone want to place the Seniors, or for that fact any person in that moldy cellar space now called "The Senior Center."
Quite frankly all of the below grade space including the Scout Room and the corridors are a mold haven. Any books that might be stored in "The Senior Center" will be as moldy as the blueprints and files stored in the corridors. One other fact : In Order for the township to receive funds and services from Middlesex County Office of Aging and Disabled Services the space MUST be dedicated solely to being a Senior Center--actually by using that room for voting the township could be disqualified from receiving those monies.

Why does the township allow any space within Town Hall to be moldy? It is the responsibility of the TC to ensure the building is safe and properly maintained for all residents. If Cranbury receives funds for the Senior Center, why isn’t it being used to mitigate any mold and properly maintain these spaces??

If there is mold then isn’t that an OSHA issue? I don’t think people can legally work in that environment.

Just read the latest letter from Matt Scott. Why does he assume that there will be a new library on Park Place West? With about 700 donors to the library fund out of a town population of 3300, he has to know this has to go to a referendum. Otherwise it will be proven that the new TC is serving their own small group interest.

Don't follow your reason. If we have 700 donations, and that usually represents a household of several people and so several voters = 1400. These are votes in favor of the library plus a significant percentage of the town who are upset that the project has been delayed and that the town should have paid for this from the start. Why go to a referendum?

*Why not have a referendum for the lake project? One could argue that this will be more expensive for a cosmetic fix...

*The Library at least has financial backers that show just how important this project to our town.

The list is on the website. The 700 donors are not 700 homes. We have 5k residents in town. A number of those 700 also gave, but do not support bonding. I know as I am one of them.

The lake is central to our town and heritage. Unlike the library one cannot say dredge it using existing funds. The library could build with their current funds. It is not the same argument. I don’t understand the idea of all or nothing. The library building could have been done already if they decided to revisit the size.

The town also gave the land, engineering, parking, utility run and most of the funding is through tax dollars aside from a couple of very large donations. The library when built will be done so primarily based on tax revenues received. Why add additional bonding? With COViD and a number of businesses rethinking how they work why should the library also not rethink their own plan and focus on a smaller library based on technology.

N668,
By your logic, you’re saying if someone donated $100 to their friends’ library fundraiser, that they “voted” on behalf of everyone in their household to get taxed for another $1,000+ dollars. Does that still seem right to you?

A lot of people in town donate because they like the library and it is easier to donate when friends ask then to say no and hurt feelings or risk a friendship. I think 50-200 dollar donations are more of a keep the peace then a true vote of wanting to increase taxes and bind for a million dollars. Look at our own TC. Jay is listed as a donor and has stated he will not vote to bond numerous times. But he also voted to support the grant and for the other township elements.

Matt Scott is the biggest idiot mayor Cranbury has ever seen. He is very full of himself!
