Does anyone have any explanation as to why we are spending thousands of $$$ to kill vegetation in the lake, considering it will be dredged very soon?

Because if not then it makes the job even more expensive and hopefully less smelly. Is it easier to weed the garden when there are fewer weeds and baby weeds or to do it after all the weeds grow.

The 5 million $ Bid price that was accepted by the contractor included removal off all vegetation and contaminated sediments. This is just a case of rewarding the professionals involved by compensating them for something that is not necessary.

Herbicides are not necessary. Neither is dredging. There are species of fish (grass carp) that can naturally control the level of aquatic plant growth in the lake.

Your solution is to introduce an invasive species that literally most of the rest of the country is trying to eradicate. Genius. That is why I love this forum.

Wow! You should do a little more research on grass carp and the problems they cause.

You don't know it? You said it's thousands and you know where it should be. Now just post it.
