Anyone else think it’s time to go back to in person meetings? Covid restrictions are done! |

I agree. But if in person you can't control the meeting or what is being said. You can ignore people when there are 20 people on zoom, but not if they are sitting in front of you. |

The Town Council is conducting meetings virtually based upon Exec Order 103 which declared a State of Emergency in NJ. The State of Emergency expired on March 7, 2022 therefore, the premise for holding meeting virtually no longer exists. The Cranbury BOE returned to in-person public meetings in July of 2021. A majority of other public boards and commissions around the state are holding meeting in person. There is no justifiable reason for continuing to conduct TC public meetings on Zoom. |

It's easiest to do what they want without any check or balance by remote. They all ran on transparency and open government, but it has regressed every year. |

The regression to non transparency gets worse all the time. The real decisions are made without any real public input. All the ordinances are read a first reading and just pushed through on the second reading without the public having any say unless they go through the tortuous experience of trying to get an explanation of the ordinance. By the second reading the deal is done behind closed doors and the passage is just formality. The present Mayor has been taught by the ex Mayors to simply duck the questions and never give a straight answer to the public on any questions they may ask. Has anyone EVER had a follow up answer to a question from the mayor or an answer at the following meeting? The old days of good back and forth educated, respectful discussion are gone. The public has been diminished to only being allowed to attend but not actually participate. The Committee meetings are a joke and if it were not for the administrator leading the circus and the clerk continually prompting the Mayor we would be in even worse shape. Most of the dedicated committee meeting folks that use to attend have given up or passed away and thus we now have a government run by a few for a few.
Going back to in person meetings will not change the mindset of the committee and even fewer folks will attend as they get pushed into the hall for executive sessions as has happened so many times in the past. |

I'm sure you complainers communicated that to the mayor and the township administrator. Right? |

Yes, I have stated to the TC that meetings should return to in-person . I have also expressed my dissatisfaction regarding the unofficial election results no longer being read in Town Hall when the polls close. The previous Township Clerk read the unofficial results from the machine right from the tapes so that the public had the readings from the tape in realtime. Other towns have and stilll provide unofficial results when the polls close. Now the tapes are pulled from the machines without members of the public there to witness (as they were before) and did not have to wait days or weeks for certified results from the county. |

Numerous people have emailed and made the comments at meetings that the TC should be back live. The issue started after Ferrante was elected and he asked the TC to adopt a list of rules he drafted. Prior to that the TC always spoke with and engaged the residents. Since then it has gradually gotten worse to the point where we have remote only meetings unlike any other town and there is never any answer.
It used to be for serious issues the room would be packed and the TC could see faces in the crowd. Now they don’t even let the cameras on for the public. |

And what is the answer our Mayor and Township Administrator give you?
Surely you voiced your concerns, but none here say what answers you got. So? You can meet the Mayor at Teddys, you can email her and the administrator in emails and ask them.....what is their answer? Would you please copy and paste it here for all to see?
And what is this with results after the polls close? What is your issue with waiting until all votes are counted? What's the rush? It's not like officials are sworn in the next day. |

Re: in-person meeting....the reason given was the TC also wanted to live stream and needed to get the wiring. That was a year ago. Furthermore, if several requests and emails have been sent to TC why is it the responsibility of the taxpayer to send yet another email or show up at Teddy's? Where is the responsibility of the TC member to provide an appropriate response or update?
Re: Polls closing and votes counted....it's a matter of transparency. It has been a long standing tradition in Cranbury (any a majority of other towns) to have unofficial results read directly from the voting machines on election night. When the new Township Clerk arrived, the process was eliminated without providing taxpayers a justifiable reason for changing a past practice that is permitted under election law. Given the current climate and claims of election fraud in this country, reinstating this type of transparency is vital to the process and needs to be addressed with the TC. And yes, I have already expressed my concerns to a TC member. |

It amazes me how people claim they want more transparency and then when in power argue against it. |

Just come out and say to which TC member you have spoken to? Don't they have a name? And the clerk, doesn't she report to to the administrator? If you have an issue, why not bump up the problem? |

At one point or another all have responded with the same answer that they are not ready to be live. If you want names all of them. I don’t attend many meetings maybe 5 in the past two years and even I have seen Mr. Scott and Ms. Spann asking if/ when will meetings go live (they don’t even know) only to be told not yet by others on the TC or the administrator.
Any TC member can call for a vote to go live and make it happen by a majority vote. That no one has called for a vote to go in person is proof enough aside from the comments made at meetings. |

In original posts I state my name however, you continue to comment under an anonymous name? You have repeatedly implied I haven’t addressed my concerns with TC member(s) or the Administrator when in fact you are mistaken. It is not necessary to mention any specific names in order to justify my comments to you, especially since you seem to be unwilling to provide your own name. |

Yet you fail to give a clear response to why thing are happening you don't like. All you do is attack the TC, the mayor, the Clerk.
Your name? What a joke. We are all here because it is anonymous so we can attack people and post bs. Be honest for a change.

Reread my posts, I clearly state the reasons of my concerns, the reason I don’t agree with not having meetings in-person and why I disagree with not having election unofficial results read on election night.

As you indicated, it is my propagative to post my opinion on this forum and I am not required to provide you with the supporting documents, copy of text messages or transcripts in order to make you feel comfortable with my position. It is clear you will never share my position and apparent you are blindly supporting members of the TC without stating valid reasons for your position. Your only defense is to shift the responsibility onto taxpayers expressing concerns regarding TC issues. For the record, my full name is Karen Callahan. Feel free to share that with your “friends” on TC, they are fully aware of who I am and the concerns I have expressed. Now its your turn, “be honest for a change” when post your next response to me, add your full name otherwise there will be no reason to continue this back and forth with “anonymous” |
