PNC purchase discussion going back on the table?

I hope that's just rumor about the historic soc promoting this petition because the effort to preserve the future of this town is a far more urgent and pressing issue. And what a waste of our collective time if the TC revisits this at another meeting.

If it is true about the historic soc trying to preserve the PNC, then
they should also set aside funds to preserve the other properties on sale for preservation, just like the PNC

15 N Main at $650K needs to be protected because it might be used to start a den of iniquity business

26 N Main at $999K might be turned into a WaWa in the barn

68 N Main at $585K perfect place to start a gambling hall

93 N Main at $1,100K a noisy bar and restaurant could open up here

99 N Main at $999K should be protected because someday drug dealers could buy it because its on a corner and a good place to do business

there are others to protect also on main st, not just PNC. What's your justification?? How much money do you collectively have in the society to preserve all current and future sales on our Main St from unknown uses?

I wish the same effort to petition for the PNC was used instead to protect Cranbury against unfair COAH rules. The historic society should be at the forefront to champion protecting the past and future that is soo threating Cranbury now.

Again, I hope someone misspoke about the Historic soc promoting the petition.

If it is indeed the historical society then it would be very helpful if the historical society was out championing the historical value of Cranbury and what a loss it would be if the COAH rules and legislation prevail.

Can someone of authority with the historical society speak to this and let us know if they are behind the petition? Or is it the library folks again?

Please whom ever you are come forward and let us know who you are and why you are pursuing this when we have so much more to worry about.

If it is indeed the historical society - Then they should purchase the PNC bank themselves. If it's the Library, They should start out by paying rent to the school. NO FREEBIES. Not only that - The cranbury taxpayers have already discussed this at a TC meeting and it was defeated.

Why are we wasting our time on a dead issue? Let's move on. This is not the time for large expenditures - Houses are not even selling in our area. Plus, The NAR is stating that it is taking 10 months on average for a house to sell.

To the poster who asked me what the person asking me to sign said, they said nothing just okay.

The individual doing this is as I understand it Mrs. Swanagan. That is what the person who asked me to sign said so they may have just been putting her name to it.

I am not sure if this historical society or library are behind it. They made no mention to me of a town organization.

In terms of preservation. Anyone who pays attention knows that HPAC is very tough in terms of what people do front, back and side. The PNC building as it stands now will always look the same because HPAC who the TC gave blanket authority will ensure that there is no change. Any permit inside the historic area requires HPAC approval before issuance. So the idea of buying it to preserve is a fear tactic and has no basis in facts. Just read the HPAC meeting notes to see how tough the restrictions are.

FYI, HPAC is NOT the historical society. They are completely unrelated organizations. The historical society has absolutely nothing to do with housing. It runs the Cranbury Museum, History Center, and offers educational programs and events.

The timing for this petition is really bad: COAH, recession, housing market crash, Cranbury property tax at record high, etc.

This petition may work if we have the following: no COAH to worried about, booming economy, Cranbury houses selling like hot cakes, Cranbury property tax at the lowest in years, Cranbury residents very happy with the way the town is governed, etc.
