Does anyone know why there are signs saying Plainsboro Rd will be closed?

A new water Main going down the middle of the road for next few months.
I don't think it will be totally closed for that whole time period.

Speaking of Plainsboro Rd, I was driving by last Saturday AM and there were a ton of police vehicles parked along that small not-official road that takes you to a handful of homes that are in Cranbury in the wwods there. It looked like they were setup like a CSI kind of unit investigating something and I also saw what seemed like evidence that something had burned in the front drive of the house opposite that road. By tons I mean at least 6-7 official vehicles.

Anyone know what was up?

I heard - but can't confirm - that there was a car that exploded/caught fire in the driveway. I'd like to know what happened, too.

Strangely, I can't find any information about this in local papers.

There is an article about it in today's Cranbury Press, but it only makes the whole thing even more strange an mysterious. The investigators included the FBI, ATF, State and Local police and they are exercising an executive order that allows them to withhold answering any questions about what happened or is going on. The resident of the house apparently also refused to answer any questions. Weird.

Maybe someone planted a bomb on the car?

Neighborhood is still puzzling over explosion

CRANBURY -- An explosion and fire that destroyed a vehicle parked in the driveway of an upscale home has neighbors whispering and wondering why federal agents have been poring over the blast site.

Officially, for more than a week now, authorities have refused to talk about the explosion that rocked houses on Plainsboro Road Sept. 25.

Township police, Cranbury Mayor David Stout and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office have not returned phone calls from The Times, while New Jersey State Police spokesmen have offered no comment.

And the FBI won't acknowledge it is involved in the investigation, despite the fact that Plainsboro Road residents tell The Times they have been interviewed by FBI agents.

Where is the leadership in our town? I cannot understand why our TC does not protect the citizens of Cranbury - I would at least expect a press release to the media that "it is still under investigation and we are thankful no one was hurt." No other comment would be necessary.

This is the same thing that happened when our well intensioned citizens went down to Trenton to fight the RCA problems. They were verbally attacked by lobbyists and our town was made out to be elitists in the media. No response or protection from our TC.

TC stop listening to all the attorneys and consultant and Perhaps we need a publicist. I'm sure there might be someone in our town that would like to volunteer there time to give Cranbury better exposure and a more positive view.

This incident is probably being investigated at the Homeland Security level. I don't think the mayor or the TC will know much about it. It's not fair to attack them on this one.

I'm critical of the TC, but it's because it's called for at the time. What do you expect the TC to do? Any statement is improper on their part. The authorities are dealing with this and the papers have reported it. It doesn't seem like any need for the TC or someone else to say something.

I agree there should have been a response when we were being attacked for being elitists, but I don't agree there should be a response for this car incident. There is nothing they can do about this, and it would be completely inappropriate for anyone related to the case to comment about it and the TC may not know anything anyway.
