The solution is simple. Elect people who understand finances and are cost sensitive. It is no more complicated then that.

I agree. Please, not another committee! If you read the minutes of these committee meetings, they spend money on hiring their own consultants, doing surveys and studies, then they need to hire lawyers, etc. and end up making (in my opinion unnecessary) changes in the name of improving the services to the citizens, which sounds great, but still costs money. Then they look for new revenue sources (read: new taxes). While many of them may seem like a good idea and do fulfill a needed purpse, in the end, they just make more work by increasing their scope and then spend more money. Keep government small and start in our own town by not expanding and by not giving these committees power.

The only way around this is to vote the Dems out. It's simple and easy. We did it under Florio and we can revolt again. It is a Dem attack on our town, it is a Dem attack on the state finances.

While I agree with this, it's not that simple. Unfortunately, too many people go to the polls and vote party lines. I know people who are voting for Obama, but criticize Corzine, but IMO, the two of them agree on the basic policy of wealth redistribution - affordable housing is an example.
