if we eliminate this parking on main st, maybe we should build a parking garage behind the dentist so it increases the public parking and solves this fictitious problem we keep having in Cranbury. My naked eyes have never been able to observe a parking problem and I even live in town so I think I must be blind.

Where can I submit my medical expenses for ocular surgery?, it must be a very bad parking problem with all the activity in the press and TC meetings. If we're willing to buy the PNC for $1.3mil to fix this parking issue.

I think all this wasted energy should be spent on more practical problems in our town, like our wild Cat problems. I've even observed black squirrels and wild Cranbury Cats playing together in down town and this frightens me - what will the TC do about Cats, dogs and squirrels playing together in the wild???

I live in town as well and it depends on when you go. If you go in the summer at 5 or 6 there is an issue. If you go on weekdays at 12-2 there is an issue. If you go at other times there is no issue.

The problem is that when you remove a spot for one person, then people in similar circumstances will want a spot removed. Now you have 5-6 less spots in town.

I don't see a parking probelm even at those peek times you suggest. Heck, I don't see a problem even during our key parades or Cranbury Day, and if you don't have a problem then you never will.

It probably comes down to your definition of "problem" To me I usually find a spot within a few parking spaces of the exact place I want to go, which makes Cranbury the easiest place to park I know of anywhere, period. But on special occasions I may have to park on a side street or walk a couple blocks. What a crisis. Big deal. Join the rest of the world. That is not a problem. Let's say in the extreme case I had to park the equivilent of the distance between the lake and Cranbury Pizza. I never have, but let's just pretend. Is that a "problem"? Not by most towns standards. Yet even on Cranbury Day I don't have to park that far away to get within the area of the event.

Let's be clear. I am not advocating a garage, a new lot or anything else. I am advocating keeping existing spaces. I do see these issues and yes, if people want to park on the other side of the lake then there is ample parking. Yesterday, when it was raining I drove to N. Main and had a hard time finding a spot to park on the street. I've seen that a number of times in the 30 years I have been here. Now, I am not saying parking is a big issue. Just that we should keep the spots we currently have today. The precedent set by removing one spot is an issue.

I just came back from my am coffee and looked at the spot.
There was plenty of available parking.

I'm not sure that this particular case sets a precedent.
It seems that the bar here was set pretty high.
1. It was at the request of the county.
2. The dentist already has tried to remedy the situation.
3.Its near a high traffic area between the school and the Rooster.
4.The spot is borders the driveway.
There can be no doubt that removing it creates a safer area.
Where else would this come into play?Any new business would have to go a prove a problem. I think that was already done here.

The drive way is gated so at least on the weekends it does not seem like a problem. Maybe only banning parking during the week is a compromise.

We have to be careful here.. If Cranbury gets a reputation as having a "parking problem" it could have trouble attracting a new business? Maybe that is why PNC is still unsold. The village is the lifeblood of the town and needs to stay user friendly.

Having said that I don't think this situation is going to alter the existing "parking problem".

There is zero chance the reason PNC hasn't sold is due to any perception of a parking problem in Cranbury.

Why is it that a parking problem and PNC are always linked?

WOW All this over a parking spot! Not a parking lot, a spot.Seems like someone wants to take a mole hill and turn it into a mountain. If its dangerous get rid of it. Or do you really just want the town to buy the bank and turn it into something else...

I don't want either. I don't want PNC bought and I don't want to get rid of the spot. Mr. Stannard did a complete review at the TC meeting and found 6 other areas in town who had similar issues. My only concern is that if the doctor has a problem that he caused he should find a fix. If I grade my property to make a garden and it floods the street resulting in my neighbor's basement flooding, should the town be the one to fix the issue or should I modify my garden? I should fix the garden because I caused the problem. Same issue here.

It seems that the planning board has been asleep at the wheel. Everything disscused here is a result of their actions. We have an enginneer who we pay to see that these kind of problems don't happen. How could they approve a driveway if it is unsafe. How could they approve a bakery with no parking. A business will say or do anything it can to get up and running. There was never a problem in that area until recently.

The fact is that if you an ask an expert they will always give you the cautious view. If the driveway was a concern from the beginning than the doctor should not have proceeded. As he did proceed than he is obligated. What is the big deal about only having a right turn? Turn right and be done with it.

Hightstown, Bordentown and Allentown all are built the same way as Cranbury with the same driveways and parking as we do. But they dont seem that have the same sillyness as we do, I think we sould be adding more common sense and humanity in our tap water instead of clorine alone. I keep telling my wife it must be in the water around here.

Speak to anyone who has worked with our engineer - she has the reputation of causing problems (and then solving them with her engrg firm at the homeowner's expense!)

Worse than no parking is all of the trucks double parking on Main St. during the day. Is that allowed? It really clogs up Main Street.
