Here is another issue of wasteful spending. The town has Cranbury Housing Associates who has managed the COAH properties and done so on a VOLUNTEER basis. Our TC now wants to remove this authority and add a new employee to the payroll.

This is coming up on the March 30 meeting. We all need to show up and oppose another employee being added on our payroll. If we manage to get rid of Corzine then COAH may go away and we'll be stuck with a employee and cost.

Does this kind of work warrant a permanent position? Or is this a part time position?

In either case, why waste my tax dollars when volunteers are available?

As long as we're paying someone I don't care if it's part time or full time. It's money being wasted when there is a proven, experienced and qualified group of volunteers. It seems there is no desire for volunteers if we can pay people to do the work.

This rule and position is mandated by COAH, the town has no choice.

CHA and the township are coordinating the process now.

I would like to believe this rule is making sure we assign a name to that role, not hire a new person. We never budgeted for a new position in 2009.

What I want to find out is if we can designate the existing person involved in COAH to this role without increasing expense.

Unfortunately there is some legal expense for us to prepare this new regulation mandated by COAH.

I have not checked however I believe this was part of the A-500 legislation from last year. It just another part of this law which is hurting suburban towns like Cranbury and costing us the taxpayers more of our money.

Does it stipulated that we have to pay this person a specific salary or can we just hire one of the volunteers for a small token fee and includes some benefits?
