This is bad news for the fight against the unfunded affordable housing rules we have here in New Jersey....

N.J. panel quashes a bid against affordable homes
An independent New Jersey council handed a victory to affordable-housing advocates yesterday when it ended an attempt by Medford and Mount Laurel to throw out some of the state's latest, and toughest, low-income-housing laws.

Just as a follow up to Dan's post which is information and fact based. The article says independent. However, it's really not.

The Chair is a former Superior Court Judge and a Democrat. So she is vested on both sides of the aisle. She wants to protect the court rulings and attorneys and wants to protect the Democrat base that voted for the legislation.

Leena Brown is a Republican. However, look at her background. Chair of the New Jersey Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights and a Commissioner on the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. It's right in line with those in support of COAH.

Timothy Q. Karcher- A democrate and well known party insider in Trenton.

Jack Tarditi- A big Democrat supporter in Trenton. His background would lead one to assume opposition, but that's not the case.

Rita E. Papaleo- Another Democrat

Those against.

Ryan J. Peene- is firmly against the mandates and well known in Republican circles.

So we're at 5-1 with 1 unknown. Can't agree that this is independent in anything, but name.

Thank you for the previous post. It's always important to know the "players", and sometimes that information is hard to find.
